Private Pilot License (PPL)

At TruWings Academy, the Private Pilot Certificate is the foundation of your aviation journey. Learn essential skills such as aerodynamics, FAA regulations, and aircraft maneuvers, while training in daytime cross-country flights using our modern Cessna 172 single-engine fleet.

Our training program is based on FAA Part 141 minimum requirements and 12+ years of aviation expertise at TruWings Academy. Please note: Additional training may be required based on individual progress.

FAA Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old to solo.
  • Must be at least 17 years old to take the practical flight exam.
  • Must pass an FAA medical exam.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or obtain TSA approval.

Instrument Rating

The Instrument Rating is the next milestone after earning your Private Pilot License. At TruWings Academy, you’ll learn the complexities of flying solely by reference to instruments, master instrument-specific procedures and rules, and gain advanced knowledge in meteorology.

Our training program aligns with FAA Part 141 minimum requirements and benefits from over 12 years of aviation training expertise at TruWings Academy. Note: Additional training may be necessary depending on individual progresss.

FAA Requirements:

  • Must be at least 17 years old to take the practical flight exam.
  • Must hold a valid FAA Private Pilot Certificate.
  • Must pass an FAA medical exam.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or obtain TSA approval.

Commercial Pilot License

Achieving a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is a significant step toward flying for hire and building a professional aviation career. At TruWings Academy, our CPL program prepares you to safely operate passenger and cargo flights in single-engine aircraft while mastering advanced techniques that push the limits of the airplane’s performance.

  • Hourly rates are available under our Members Only pricing (refer to our Membership Program for details).
  • FAA knowledge and practical exam fees are not included in estimates and vary by examiner and test center.
  • You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English as per FAA guidelines.

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)

Take the next step in your aviation career by becoming a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). If you hold a Commercial Pilot Single or Multi-Engine airplane certificate, this rating allows you to teach aspiring pilots, refine your own skills, and earn a living while building the flight hours required for airline opportunities.

FAA Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Commercial Pilot Certificate.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass an FAA medical exam.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or obtain TSA approval.

Certified Flight Instructor (CFII)

Expand your teaching credentials by adding an Instrument Rating to your Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate. As a CFII, you’ll be qualified to provide instrument training to aspiring commercial and airline transport pilots, enhancing your career opportunities while contributing to the development of advanced aviators.

FAA Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid Commercial Pilot Certificate.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass an FAA medical exam.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or obtain TSA approval.

Zero to Hero (PPL to CFII)

TruWings Academy offers a comprehensive "Zero to Hero" program, guiding you from zero experience to achieving your Commercial Pilot License. We’ll evaluate your background to create a personalized training plan, ensuring your journey is efficient and tailored to your needs.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Must pass an FAA medical exam.
